GLEANINGS FROM THE WORD Experiencing an extraordinary God in ordinary life
Issue #527 June 23, 2002 Aglow The ladies ahead of me were walking their children around the park. As they walked, I couldnt help but overhear parts of their conversation. They were deeply engrossed in a conversation about a friend of theirs who is pregnant. They gushed with enthusiasm about how happy she was and how she seemed to just glow since her pregnancy started. Ive seen many pregnant women (and brides) who seemed to have a special glow about them. In fact the first time I heard about a Womans Aglow fellowship, the first thought that came to my mind was a group of pregnant woman meeting for lunch. Boys who have made the cut for the school sports team glow. Young women who just got engaged glow. Parents glow with pride as their children graduate or use the toilet by themselves the first time. We all encounter people who seem to have that special radiance about them at one point or another. Scripture tells of an extraordinary case of radiance. Moses experienced Gods presence. Lets just take a moment and look at a brief passage from the book of Exodus. When Moses came down from Mount Sinai with the two tablets of the Testimony in his hands, he was not aware that his face was radiant because he had spoken with the LORD. When Aaron and all the Israelites saw Moses, his face was radiant, and they were afraid to come near him. But Moses called to them; so Aaron and all the leaders of the community came back to him, and he spoke to them. Afterward all the Israelites came near him, and he gave them all the commands the LORD had given him on Mount Sinai. When Moses finished speaking to them, he put a veil over his face. But whenever he entered the LORD's presence to speak with him, he removed the veil until he came out. And when he came out and told the Israelites what he had been commanded, they saw that his face was radiant. Then Moses would put the veil back over his face until he went in to speak with the LORD. Exodus 24:29-35 NIV After Moses spent time enjoying the fullness of God, his face glowed. People knew he had been involved in something special. The book of Hebrews explains that Moses hid his face because he knew the longer he was away from God the less radiant he would be and he didnt want to think it was God who was keeping them apart. Does your face glow after worship or after spending time with God? When people look at you do they see the radiant, glowing, countenance of God or do they see the pickle face of a sour, bitter person who has been too busy or too tied up in yourself to spend real time with God? Until next time, may your face glow with the joy of the Lord. May everyone around you know there is something special about you because of Jesus light reflected in your life. Be blessed. Hallelu Yah Kevin Do you want the kind of pace and joy in your life that is so strong others see it in your face? Look to a personal relationship with Jesus.
