Issue 1533 – Wild Weather – August 24, 2024

Yesterday was a full day. We took the two grandgirls to the Kilby Historic Site for their outdoor production of “The Wizard of Oz.” It was a delightful amateur musical production. Afterward, we visited the site’s museum. This little historic park is always worth a visit.
On the drive out to Kilby, we enjoyed an ever-changing view of clouds on top of and dancing in the forested hills and mountains. There were periods of rain along the way. It rained while we were at the play, but we were under the cover of a tent.
From Kilby, we headed into Hope and then up Highway 5 to view the Othello Tunnels. The clouds got darker and the rain heavier.
The tunnels have been closed since the massive flooding of the Coquihalla River in November 2021.
The river Bed has widened dramatically due to the flooding, and the roads are still under reconstruction. Although the media reported that some of the tunnels had reopened, we could not access them.
We turned around and headed to Rolly’s Restaurant in Hope for supper. It’s our favorite stop in Hope. It isn’t fancy, but we’ve never had a bad meal there. The service is always excellent, and they make fantastic pies.
When we got home, we saw numerous social media posts that the storms had moved into the interior, accompanied by high winds. A great deal of damage was done, and trees were broken or pulled up by the roots.
Numerous power outages occurred., and there was a lot of lightning, so it’s possible that more forest fires were ignited.
Throughout the day, we were treated to displays of the power of God’s natural creation. It can cause enormous destruction.
We see the power of “nature” around us all the time. It testifies to the power of its creator, the Living God. He creates the weather and moves the very fabric of the forests, streams, and mountains with ease.
He can create floods or droughts. Jesus can calm the seas with a Word. Volcanoes erupt or stand dormant at his command. The very ground shakes as he desires.
It is this same all-powerful God who holds our salvation in His hand.
My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me. I give them eternal life, and they will never perish, and no one will snatch them out of my hand. My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all, and no one is able to snatch them out of the Father’s hand. I and the Father are one.” John 10:27-30
The storms may come, drought or flooding might overtake us, or the very earth under our feet may tremble and move. Yet, God holds us fast in His hands,
No matter what you face today, you can rejoice; if you belong to Christ, nothing can take you away from Him. Hold fast, my friends, hold fast.
Be blessed
Hallelu Yah / Praise God

Gleanings From The Word
Experience an extraordinary God in ordinary life.
Soli Deo Gloria (For the glory of God alone)
Never let the enemy tell you that you are worthless or insignificant. Your value in God’s eyes is so great that it was worth dying for. You are a blessing to the world. You are so precious to God that his plan for heaven will not be complete without you.
