Issue 907 Lest We Forget November 11, 2022

A proud father, James Edward “Ned” Corbin, poses outside his Fraxville, Nova Scotia home, with Three of his sons, Murray Edward Corbin, Russell Paige Corbin and Dorn Clyde Corbin. All three of the sons served with the Canadian Army during WW2.
On the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month, the guns fell silent in 1918 in accordance with an Armistice agreement signed earlier that morning. Each year we pause to commemorate those who served and fell in that and subsequent conflicts in service of the country. We observe in the hopes that we will not forget their sacrifice or the horrors of war. We commemorate in the hopes that we will seek peace.
Some claim that Remembrance Day is a glorification of war. I would contend that misses the point, and we remember not to make war glorious but to see the cost and seek peace.
War is a horrific consequence of the fallen nature of humanity. The causes vary, but in the event, all can be traced to sin of some form. Wars will not cease until the Lord has returned and judged all of humanity.
We will not know the fullness of true peace until we go to be with the Lord. We can have the ultimate peace and reconciliation with God now through Christ, with the promise of complete peace to come.
Men and women around the globe have given their lives in service of their country in valiant efforts to bring peace. It is fitting that we take time today to remember the brave men and women who gave their all for us. Even those who returned physically whole were changed forever by what they experienced.
Often, Remembrance Day is the only time we stop and give thanks for what they did. We take their sacrifice for granted, hardly giving it a second thought most of the time.
Jesus came and gave His life so that we might have true peace. We often take that sacrifice for granted as well.
Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ, who gave himself for our sins to deliver us from the present evil age, according to the will of our God and Father, to whom be the glory forever and ever. Amen. Galatians 1:3-4
For while we were still weak, at the right time Christ died for the ungodly. For one will scarcely die for a righteous person—though perhaps for a good person one would dare even to die— but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Romans 5:6-8
For the love of Christ controls us, because we have concluded this: that one has died for all, therefore all have died; and he died for all, that those who live might no longer live for themselves but for him who for their sake died and was raised. 2 Corinthians 5:14-15
For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God. 2 Corinthians 5:21
Today is a day to remember and give thanks.
My humble thanks to all who served in war and peace times and those who serve today. My eternal gratitude to my LORD who died for me.
Be blessed
Hallelu Yah / Praise God
Kevin
