Issue 1159 – Thinking – May 23, 2023

An opportunity presented itself last week, so Kathy and I took a spontaneous trip south of the border into Washington State. We explored Camano Island, notably Cama Beach Historical State Park. We had supper at Bellingham’s Mi Mexico, a restaurant we have enjoyed several times.
We spent the night at our usual Bellingham stay. We did a little shopping the next day, enjoyed a couple of hours at Boulevard Park, and wrapped the day up with a late lunch/early supper at the Rusty Wagon in Lynden. Then a short drive and we were home.
It’sIt’s nearly as fast to hop down to Bellingham than to drive into Vancouver. The traffic is lighter; even with a border crossing, we can be there in less than an hour and a half. We explore a different secondary route each time and enjoy the wide range of beautiful scenery.
This morning’s primary image is Kathy sitting on a log at Cama Beach. It was one of many suitable spots for sitting and enjoying the beach. I call those types of places thinking spots. It is as if God places sites at various points in creation to entice us to stop, sit a spell and think on Him.
Even Winnie the Pooh, a bear of very little brain, had a “Thotful Spot,” and surely we are smarter than Pooh. Aren’t we?

We are called to take time with the Lord. The Scriptures even give us some clear instructions for things we might think about.
Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, rejoice. Let your reasonableness be known to everyone. The Lord is at hand; do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things. What you have learned and received and heard and seen in me—practice these things, and the God of peace will be with you. Philippians 4:4-9
When we do take time to stop and think, we often fill our heads with junk. It’s far more pleasant and productive to consider the good things in life, count our blessings, and meditate on God.
Until next time, find a thinking spot and take some time to stop and think on God.
Be Blessed
