Issue 1378 – Cloud Cover – February 23, 2024

Yesterday, Kathy and I took a late afternoon stroll around Willband Creek Park. It’s a popular destination for local camera buffs and birders. They even have their own FaceBook page, which features some fabulous photographs of the birds and wildlife of the park.
Off towards the north (the Mission side of the Fraser River), the clouds threatened to envelop the mountains and foothills. I couldn’t help but think of some of the accounts from the Bible,
In many places, God manifests himself to the people of Israel in the form of a cloud or out of the clouds in both testaments.
We read of His coming return in the prologue to The Revelation of Jesus the Christ to John the Apostle.
John to the seven churches that are in Asia: Grace to you and peace from him who is and who was and who is to come, and from the seven spirits who are before his throne, and from Jesus Christ the faithful witness, the firstborn of the dead, and the ruler of kings on earth. To him who loves us and has freed us from our sins by his blood and made us a kingdom, priests to his God and Father, to him be glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen. Behold, he is coming with the clouds, and every eye will see him, even those who pierced him, and all tribes of the earth will wailon account of him. Even so. Amen. “I am the Alpha and the Omega,” says the Lord God, “who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty.” Revelation 1:4-8
When He ascended into heaven, the angels foretold of his return.
And when he had said these things, as they were looking on, he was lifted up, and a cloud took him out of their sight. And while they were gazing into heaven as he went, behold, two men stood by them in white robes, and said, “Men of Galilee, why do you stand looking into heaven? This Jesus, who was taken up from you into heaven, will come in the same way as you saw him go into heaven.” Acts 1:9-11
The world scoffs at the idea of Christ, and mockers make light of His imminent return. Yet it will be undeniable. God does not make promises He does not keep; it is not in His nature to lie.
His return will be undeniable. Everyone will be a witness to it. Some will witness with rejoicing and others in anger and terror, but everyone will see.
There will be no denying Him at that point.
Therefore God has highly exalted him and bestowed on him the name that is above every name, so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. Philippians 2:9-11
Some will confess it with gladness and be with him forever; others will confess it with cursing and be destined to eternal damnation.
When you look upon the clouds, be reminded that He is coming back for us and rejoice.
Be blessed
Hallelu Yah / Praise God
Kevin
