Issue 1379 – Fountain of Life – February 24, 2024

Yesterday, Kathy and I took a leisurely stroll around Mill Lake Park. The Mill Lake Loop Trail is a 2.3 km paved walkway that circles the lake. It is an urban park in the centre of Abbotsford, so the pathways are always busy, but it still makes for a pleasant diversion.
The lake tends to get overgrown and stagnant, so the city of Abbotsford installed a fountain in 2022; it serves the dual function of aerating the lake and providing aesthetic features.
The fountain plays a vital role in rejuvenating the pond. Its spray captures oxygen from the air, infusing it into the lake and revitalizing its ecosystem. This process restores balance and promotes the lake’s overall health, ensuring its vitality for years to come.
Yesterday, I photographed the fountain, intrigued by the stark contrast between the areas where the water was blowing and where it wasn’t. The mist created by the fountain even reveals a faint rainbow, adding a delightful touch to the scene.
The Scripture sometimes uses the metaphor of a fountain to describe God and his works. Looking at the Mill Lake Fountain, I was reminded of the words of the Psalmist.
Transgression speaks to the wicked deep in his heart there is no fear of God before his eyes. For he flatters himself in his own eyes that his iniquity cannot be found out and hated. The words of his mouth are trouble and deceit; he has ceased to act wisely and do good. He plots trouble while on his bed; he sets himself in a way that is not good; he does not reject evil. Your steadfast love, O Lord, extends to the heavens, your faithfulness to the clouds. Your righteousness is like the mountains of God; your judgments are like the great deep; man and beast you save, O Lord. How precious is your steadfast love, O God! The children of mankind take refuge in the shadow of your wings. They feast on the abundance of your house, and you give them drink from the river of your delights. For with you is the fountain of life; in your light do we see light. Oh, continue your steadfast love to those who know you, and your righteousness to the upright of heart! Let not the foot of arrogance come upon me, nor the hand of the wicked drive me away. There the evildoers lie fallen; they are thrust down, unable to rise. Psalm 36
The Lord provides the fountain of life.
He allows us to drink from the river of His delights.
What a beautiful thoughts to meditate upon.
The next time you see a fountain, take a moment to think of the glorious fountain of life. Give Him the praise and glory He is due.
Be blessed
Hallelu Yah / Praise God
