Issue 1455 – Glad to see you – May 23, 2024

I stumbled across this photo of two dogs we once owned, Misty and Jasper. Mister was a registered border collie. Jasper was a border collie/maremma cross.
In this shot, they take a break from walking and playing frisbee. They didn’t need the break, I did.
Jasper was the more laid-back of the pair. He wasn’t much for chasing things. His guardian livestock DNA made him more likely to watch over a situation and respond to possible danger. Misty was a more typical border collie. She would run herself to death “working” if you let her.
I miss having dogs, but our living situation and lifestyle wouldn’t be good for them. A good dog wants to go everywhere with you and do whatever you do. The activity matters less than doing it together.
Your dog is always glad to see you when you have been apart from your dog, even for a short time. Five minutes or five days, it doesn’t matter. They are going to love on you for the simple act of returning.
There is something special about the nearly unconditional love of a dog. Just imagine what the world would be like if everyone had the same enthusiasm to see you and be with you that your favourite dog does. It would be a world where everyone felt their worth.
That kind of situation will not happen this side of glory, but we can rejoice that Father loves us that much and is always there for us.
I am reminded of the story of the prodigal son. You know the story: the youngest son leaves home and squanders everything. Finally, broke, desperate, and starving, he comes home. That is where I will pick up the story.
And he arose and came to his father. But while he was still a long way off, his father saw him and felt compassion, and ran and embraced him and kissed him. And the son said to him, ‘Father, I have sinned against heaven and before you. I am no longer worthy to be called your son.’ But the father said to his servants, ‘Bring quickly the best robe, and put it on him, and put a ring on his hand, and shoes on his feet. And bring the fattened calf and kill it, and let us eat and celebrate. For this my son was dead, and is alive again; he was lost, and is found.’ And they began to celebrate. Luke 15:20-24
The father was delighted to see his son return. He rejoiced that the boy had come home safe and sound. Our heavenly Father is no different.
He rejoices when a lost child returns to Him. He created us for fellowship with Him and delights when we take the time to be with Him. We never have to be alone because he is always there to be with His children.
Until next time, take some time to spend with Father.
Be blessed
Hallelu Yah / Praise God

Gleanings From The Word
Experience an extraordinary God in ordinary life.
Soli Deo Gloria (For the glory of God alone)
Never let the enemy tell you that you are worthless or insignificant. Your value in God’s eyes is so great that it was worth dying for. You are a blessing to the world. You are so precious to God that his plan for heaven will not be complete without you.
