Issue 1462 – Zapped – May 31, 2024

Way back when I served in the Canadian Armed Forces as a radio technician. I was posted to an air base and worked in the tower that handled air-ground communications.
One of our duties was to perform routine maintenance on the transmitters and receivers. These were high-voltage, high-power units, so we turned off the electricity to the relevant bank of units to work safely.
One morning, I was deep in servicing a transmitter when another technician entered the room. Seeing the power off, he reacted instinctively and turned the power back on. Upon hearing my scream as 50,000 volts entered my hand and grounded out through my wrist, he promptly turned the power back off.
A simple mistake with painful consequences. I ended up with some small burn holes in my hand and a killer headache, but it could just as easily have been fatal.
Our choices and mistakes can seem minor at the time, but they can have an impact that may last our entire lives.
An unplanned pregnancy. An abortion. A sexually transmitted disease. A vehicle accident that takes a life or causes serious injury. Unemployment. Addiction. A destroyed family and marriage. Property destroyed. Relationships devastated. Jail time. Expulsion from school. The list of consequences stemming from poor choices is virtually endless.
Fortunately, while we may have to carry the scars (like burn marks on the palm), we can experience forgiveness and freedom from those mistakes. Jesus came to set us free.
The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim liberty to the captives and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty those who are oppressed, to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favour. Luke 4:18-19
Freedom in Christ is ours. No matter how poor the choice or huge the consequences are, the Lord will forgive those who submit to Him. There is no other place to find that freedom. It’s through Christ alone.
And there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved. Acts 4:12
It is by faith alone.
Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. Romans 5:1
Until next time, rejoice. He loves and frees us even though we’re so far from perfect.
Be blessed
Hallelu Yah / Praise God

Gleanings From The Word
Experience an extraordinary God in ordinary life.
Soli Deo Gloria (For the glory of God alone)
Never let the enemy tell you that you are worthless or insignificant. Your value in God’s eyes is so great that it was worth dying for. You are a blessing to the world. You are so precious to God that his plan for heaven will not be complete without you.
