Issue 1467 – Fake Flowers – June 6, 2024

In a corner of our covered patio sits a pot of artificial flowers that match the primary colours of the flowers in our backyard. They are in a location that doesn’t get enough sun to keep real flowers, but they add a splash of decorative colour.
We have several hummingbirds that frequent the garden and water feature regularly. I have seen them come in several times to check out the fake flowers, only to turn away disappointed.
Fake flowers simply don’t provide what the hummers really need, even if they are attractive flowers. That’s typically true for most knockoffs; they disappoint.
So it is with faith. One online source I checked says that more than 4200 “religions” exist worldwide. That doesn’t begin to count the many religious substitutes that don’t formally consider themselves religions.
Mother Earth worshippers, secret society social clubs, many animal rights groups and their ilk. Much of what passes for science is faith in science itself. Atheism and veganism both aggressively push for converts.
There are political systems that are religious attempts to convert the world. Communism and Marxism attempt to convert new members by violence if necessary. The UN pushes for one world government under its rules; you can think of many others.
If there are so many regions out there, how many are true?
There is only one true faith: Christianity. The Scripture makes it abundantly clear.
Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. John 14:6
And there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.” Acts 4:12
Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life; whoever does not obey the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God remains on him. John 3:36
For there is one God, and there is one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, 1 Timothy 2:5
In this is love, not that we have loved God but that he loved us and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins. 1 John 4:12
For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 6:23
I could quote dozens of other verses as well. If Jesus is who He claimed, we ought to take Him at His Word.
There are plenty of flake flowers out there. Are you willing to risk your life on one of them? Come to Jesus. He won’t turn you away or disappoint you.
Praise His name.
Be blessed
Hallelu Yah / Praise God

Gleanings From The Word
Experience an extraordinary God in ordinary life.
Soli Deo Gloria (For the glory of God alone)
Never let the enemy tell you that you are worthless or insignificant. Your value in God’s eyes is so great that it was worth dying for. You are a blessing to the world. You are so precious to God that his plan for heaven will not be complete without you.
