Issue 1468 – Song Bird – June 7, 2024

As Kathy and I sat in the backyard enjoying our morning coffee, we were treated to a number of delights. The local squirrel did some cleaning under the bird feeders and ran by with his cheeks full of seed and puffed out, looking for all the world like a cartoon character.
We watched several robins successfully hunt worms, which led us to wonder how they find worms so easily. We learned they have excellent colour vision, making it easy to discern the difference between the ground’s colour and the worm’s. They also have very sensitive hearing, which enables them to hear the worms tunnelling under the ground.
A song sparrow alighted atop the tallest cedar in this morning’s image and serenaded us for a short while. Its song was simple but heartwarming.
All of creation worships the Living God.
Let everything that has breath praise the Lord! Praise the Lord! Psalm 150:6
Praise the Lord! Praise the Lord from the heavens; praise him in the heights! Praise him, all his angels; praise him, all his hosts! Praise him, sun and moon, praise him, all you shining stars! Praise him, you highest heavens, and you waters above the heavens! Let them praise the name of the Lord! For he commanded and they were created. And he established them forever and ever; he gave a decree, and it shall not pass away. Praise the Lord from the earth, you great sea creatures and all deeps, fire and hail, snow and mist, stormy wind fulfilling his word! Mountains and all hills, fruit trees and all cedars!Beasts and all livestock, creeping things and flying birds! Psalm 148:1-10
If the birds can sing praises, how is it that we humans, superior to them in so many ways, can choose not to do so? It’s even more astonishing that, surrounded by the near limitless witness of creation, we can choose to deny that God even exists.
It’s no wonder that God’s wrath is against fallen humanity.
The wrath of God is being revealed from heaven against all the godlessness and wickedness of people, who suppress the truth by their wickedness, since what may be known about God is plain to them, because God has made it plain to them. For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse. Romans 1:18-20
Despite our wilful disobedience, God still loves us enough to send Jesus to be the propitiation for our sins. Knowledge of that truth should lead us to praise Him even more.
All of creation, even the little birds, praise God. How much more can we praise Him, knowing of His grace, love and mercy to us?
Let us make everything we do a form of praise and worship to the King of Kings.
Be blessed
Hallelu Yah / Praise God
Kevin
Gleanings From The Word
Experience an extraordinary God in ordinary life.
Soli Deo Gloria (For the glory of God alone)
Never let the enemy tell you that you are worthless or insignificant. Your value in God’s eyes is so great that it was worth dying for. You are a blessing to the world. You are so precious to God that his plan for heaven will not be complete without you.
