Issue 1502 – Peek – July 19, 2024

I’ve always liked the idea of a parrot for a pet, but I wanted to avoid dealing with the mess or having a pet that might outlive me by decades. Kathy bought me a Squawkers McCaw about 20 years ago. He has been my “pet parrot” ever since.
My animatronic parrot has just returned home. For a week, he was part of the decor for the Vacation Bible School at our local assembly. He’s been a favorite of children and adults alike for years and usually resides in my office.
When I saw him sitting in the bag he had come home in, I could almost hear him say, “Peek!” in his parrot voice.”Peek!” I couldn’t resist taking this photo of him in the bag.
We typically associate peeking with the children’s game Peek-a-boo or sneaking a quick glance at a gift or something we weren’t meant to see. The whole concept is a taste of people’s innate curiosity.
The Lord has created us with a desire to know things and to search for Him. Fortunately, He has made Himself easy to find for anyone who is truly searching.
He has revealed Himself in the natural world.
For what can be known about God is plain to them, because God has shown it to them. For his invisible attributes, namely, his eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the world, in the things that have been made. So they are without excuse. Romans 1:19-20
God has revealed himself in the Scriptures.
And beginning with Moses and all the Prophets, he interpreted to them in all the Scriptures the things concerning himself. Luke 24:37
You search the Scriptures because you think that in them you have eternal life; and it is they that bear witness about me John 5:39
The Lord has revealed Himself in Jesus.
“The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth” John 1:14
He has revealed himself to our hearts and conscience.
For when Gentiles, who do not have the law, by nature do what the law requires, they are a law to themselves, even though they do not have the law. They show that the work of the law is written on their hearts, while their conscience also bears witness, and their conflicting thoughts accuse or even excuse them Romans 2:14-15
Many people claim to know about God, but relatively few truly know Him and have a relationship with Him. He calls to us, enabling an intriguing peek. That peek is designed to call us into an ever-deepening relationship with Him.
I am thankful that He doesn’t remain hidden from us. If you don’t yet know Him, take the time to search for Him. He is there if you will seek Him.
Be blessed
Hallelu Yah / Praise God
Kevin
Gleanings From The Word
Experience an extraordinary God in ordinary life.
Soli Deo Gloria (For the glory of God alone)
Never let the enemy tell you that you are worthless or insignificant. Your value in God’s eyes is so great that it was worth dying for. You are a blessing to the world. You are so precious to God that his plan for heaven will not be complete without you.
