Issue 1503 – Big Sky – July 23, 2024

One of the things I realized I missed about Alberta during our recent visit was the big skies. Here in the Lower Mainland, we are surrounded by mountains in three directions. I love the mountain views, and the skies are pretty, but the view of the sky is limited.
In much of Alberta, the skies stretch from horizon to horizon without anything to block the view. It’s hard to describe, it has to be seen to be appreciated.
I have met many people who grew up in prairie big-sky country who get claustrophobic in cities or the mountains because the sky feels so closed in. I have also met people from the city, where the view is dominated by tall buildings, who felt very vulnerable when they saw the vastness of a prairie sky.
The sky is the same simply seen from a different point of view. Whether you are a big sky or small sky person, God wants you to know something.
The heavens declare the glory of God, and the sky above proclaims his handiwork.Day to day pours out speech, and night to night reveals knowledge. There is no speech, nor are there words, whose voice is not heard.Their voice goes out through all the earth, and their words to the end of the world.
In them he has set a tent for the sun, which comes out like a bridegroom leaving his chamber, and, like a strong man, runs its course with joy.Its rising is from the end of the heavens, and its circuit to the end of them, and there is nothing hidden from its heat. The law of the Lord is perfect, reviving the soul; the testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple;the precepts of the Lord are right, rejoicing the heart; the commandment of the Lord is pure, enlightening the eyes;the fear of the Lord is clean, enduring forever; the rules of the Lord are true, and righteous altogether.More to be desired are they than gold, even much fine gold sweeter also than honey and drippings of the honeycomb. Psalm 19:1-10
The sky itself praises God. God wants us to hear it. The praise doesn’t come out in audible words, but everything about it tells us of God. He is in every sunrise and sunset, in the clouds and storms, and in every glimpse of the sun, moon, or stars.
The beauty of the skies is not God, it proclaims the power and faithfulness of God.
When we look up and see the heavens and their glory, we are reminded of God’s power and presence. No matter our circumstances, the skies proclaim that God is holy, loving, merciful, and just. The skies remind us that no matter what we are facing, God has not abandoned us.
Look up, be reminded that God is in control, and praise His name.
Be blessed
Hallelu Yah / Praise God

Gleanings From The Word
Experience an extraordinary God in ordinary life.
Soli Deo Gloria (For the glory of God alone)
Never let the enemy tell you that you are worthless or insignificant. Your value in God’s eyes is so great that it was worth dying for. You are a blessing to the world. You are so precious to God that his plan for heaven will not be complete without you.
