Issue 717 – He is Risen! – April 17, 2022

He is risen!
He is risen, indeed!
Today, the Christian world resounds with that refrain as we commemorate the tomb found empty nearly 2,000 years ago. In commemoration, we sing, Christ the Lord is risen today. Hallelu Yah!
Arguably the most significant event in history, it is the apex of the Christian calendar. Christmas, Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, and Pentecost are all related to this day, but this is the jewel in His crown.
Jesus’ death on the cross could not stop it. The guards posted around the sealed tomb could not stop either. The powers of death and evil could not prevent it from happening.
The Lord was scorned, mocked, rejected, falsely convicted, tortured in a horrific public manner, killed, and buried in a borrowed tomb. The legions of darkness no doubt danced with what they thought was the ultimate victory. How wrong they were.
The tomb was empty. That is such a short statement but a shocking truth of eternal magnitude.
Jesus came to die and be resurrected. He humbly set things of glory aside and came as an infant that we would be set free. He allowed His life to be taken.
It was all prophesied in His Words. It would have been plain to anyone who had the eyes to see.
Nothing could hold Him back from completing His God-ordained task of deliverance.
He has set His people free. The first time He came to save us. When He returns, it will be as judge of the world.
It is impossible to overestimate the value of the resurrection. If Jesus had not been raised, our faith would be in vain.
Now if Christ is proclaimed as raised from the dead, how can some of you say that there is no resurrection of the dead? But if there is no resurrection of the dead, then not even Christ has been raised. And if Christ has not been raised, then our preaching is in vain and your faith is in vain. We are even found to be misrepresenting God, because we testified about God that he raised Christ, whom he did not raise if it is true that the dead are not raised. For if the dead are not raised, not even Christ has been raised. And if Christ has not been raised, your faith is futile and you are still in your sins. Then those also who have fallen asleep in Christ have perished. If in Christ we have hope1 in this life only, we are of all people most to be pitied.
1 Corinthians 15:12-19
Without the resurrection, our faith is in a dead Jewish fraud. Of all the “prophets” and leaders of the religions worldwide, only Christ returned from the dead. Only Jesus defeated death; the rest remained entombed.
His resurrection cleared the way for us to be saved, empowered and indwelt by Holy Spirit and reconciled to the Father.
His death, burial and resurrection have changed our lives for eternity. It is no wonder that we celebrate.
Happy Resurrection Day. May the Lord draw you ever closer to Him.
He is risen.
He is risen indeed.
Hallelu Yah (Praise God)
Be blessed.
Kevin.
