A pair of themes in the Scriptures run parallel to one another. Efforts to reconcile those parallel themes inevitably damage or distort one or the other. I am speaking of divine sovereignty and individual responsibility. Both are taught clearly in the Bible and sometimes seem to be a paradox

Whether you call them flocks, gaggles or skeins, one thing you seldom see is a solo goose. Geese were designed to be in community, sometimes vast communities, but communities nonetheless.

I was perusing an article on the 100 largest libraries in the world. I wasn’t surprised that the US Library of Congress (pictured) comes in first at 165 million items. We are all familiar with the account. God has had enough with the sin of humanity. He charges Noah, a righteous man, to warn the world and build a large boat. In due course, Noah built the ark; the animals, Noah and his family get on board, and the Lord seals the ark.
