As I walked around the lake, I witnessed a heartbreaking scene unfold. A single ducking, either separated from its family or orphaned, was swimming along the lakeshore and in obvious distress. It kept peeping for its mother.

The legendary preacher Charles Spurgeon once said, “Discernment is not simply a matter of telling the difference between what is right and wrong; rather, it is the difference between right and almost right.”

His “fingerprints” can be found on everything around us. We cannot help but see His handiwork on everything, even things such as the ticking of a clock or the passing of day into night or Spring into Summer.

Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above,

Explaining our freedom in Christ to a non-believer is like explaining being a butterfly to a caterpillar.

This nontypical scene got me thinking about being a Christian. Everything about the Christian faith is counter-cultural.

Or you can roast the beans, grind them, and brew them in boiling water. The beans and water are the same, but what a difference in the results! Applying some heat and the pressure of grinding makes things so much better.

Father’s Day is just around the corner, so I’m thinking about fathers and sons.
