When was the last time you took some time and spent it savoring God’s Word? When did you last let the Holy Spirit speak to you through the Word?

That is a good metaphor for the way sin works. We see what we desire, and before long, we are trapped, unable to free ourselves. Once trapped, we have no one to blame but ourselves.

If I were to put my faithfulness on a scale next to God’s, the scales would never balance.

Our assemblies out to be Christ-centered, Word-based, and Holy Spirit-powered. We call it gospel-centered.

The gospel is double-barreled. It can bowl you over, but it can be incredibly beneficial when appropriately applied.

If we aren’t living in ancient Babylon or Rome yet, we are in a pretty good representation of those times. What are believers to do?

Those of us of older generations must show the younger ones by word and deed that all is not lost. There is hope for them, and they have a crucial role in God’s plan. They have a hope-filled purpose.

The retreating mist made me think of death. Just moments before, it had obscured the view of what lay beyond it. Now, I could get a good sense of what came after.

Everything the Lord has provided points us to Him.
