Issue 1496 – Planting Corn – July 11, 2024
“Always remember that if you plant beans, you’ll get beans. If you plant corn, you’re going to get corn. So be careful what you plant.”
Daily devotionals from Scripture to nourish your faith, deepen your prayer life, and grow in God's grace.

Every day, Scripture speaks to ordinary life. Gleanings From the Word is a daily devotional drawn from the Bible and written for people who live in the middle of things — work, family, struggle, and ordinary Monday mornings.
Kevin Corbin has been writing these devotionals since January 1, 2001. The aim is simple: stay close to the text, say what is there, and trust that God meets us where we live.
The Lord loves ordinary people. He must, because He made so many of us.
Come on in. Read a while. Subscribe if it helps your walk.

In the pews and in the pulpit, there are sheep and goats. In the ministry and the masses there are weeds and wheat. We will be surprised when we get to glory, both by who is there and who is not.

When the persecution comes … hold fast.

Yes, the church needs to be united. Yet we must never compromise biblical truth for what the world sees as unity. We must join together and earnestly contend for the faith once and for all.

There is another walk that we need to be concerned with. It is our faith walk, our journey through this life. The way we display our faith in our own lives impacts our own attitudes and, often, the responses of the people around us.

May you find the balance that enables you to be childlike in your faith while growing in maturity.

I didn’t choose my birthplace and citizenship. They were granted because my parents were Canadian and birthed me here. My heavenly citizenship was granted because God called me, and by His grace, I was saved by faith in Jesus. He paid the entry fee to allow me to enter that kingdom.
