Issue 1553 – Space Butterflies – September 18, 2024
I recently spent some time viewing the website for the Hubble Space Telescope .
As I browsed their gallery of images, my breath was taken away by the incredible diversity, beauty, and color of space. I was astounded at the photographs of some of the galaxies out there, of which there are billions, of which our Milky Way galaxy is but one.
Earth revolves around a tiny star amid one galaxy among billions. It truly is impressive and humbling.
The “Hubblesite” has a gallery of nearly 1,000 downloadable images of various galaxies, planets, stars, and nebula, which truly defy description. Today’s image is one I selected at random and is of the Butterfly Nebula. Full-sized photos (some larger than 4 feet square) are available on the site.
As I viewed the photos from deep space, I was struck by several thoughts. First, their sheer size and beauty magnified the Lord.
The heavens declare the glory of God, and the sky aboveproclaims his handiwork.Day to day pours out speech, and night to night reveals knowledge. There is no speech, nor are there words, whose voice is not heard.Their voice goes out through all the earth, and their words to the end of the world. In them, he has set a tent for the sun, the sun, You have set your glory above the heavens. Psalm 19:1-4
Secondly, I was struck by how small people are in the overall scheme of the heavens, yet God loves us enough to send His Son to die on our behalf.
When I look at your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon, and the stars, which you have set in place, what is man that you are mindful of him, and the son of man that you care for him? Yet you have made him a little lower than the heavenly beings and crowned him with glory and honor. You have given him dominion over the works of your hands; you have put all things under his feet, all sheep and oxen, and also the beasts of the field, the birds of the heavens, and the fish of the sea, whatever passes along the paths of the seas. O Lord, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth! Psalm 8:3-9
Lastly, I was struck by the difficulty Ezekiel, John the Revelator, and others must have had in expressing their visions of God and the heavens.
They say one picture is worth a thousand words. I know I could not adequately describe today’s image in ten times that; it is only a tiny piece of the world. It must be more difficult to describe the sight of the Creator of Heaven and Earth, the King of Kings.
Praise his holy name.
Be blessed
Hallelu Yah / Praise God

Gleanings From The Word
Experience an extraordinary God in ordinary life.
Soli Deo Gloria (For the glory of God alone)
Never let the enemy tell you that you are worthless or insignificant. Your value in God’s eyes is so great that it was worth dying for. You are a blessing to the world. You are so precious to God that his plan for heaven will not be complete without you.
