Issue 706 – Transitions – April 6, 2022

It was that wonderful time of evening when it was already night but still transitioning. The sky was black as deep velvet to the east, with the stars shining through brilliantly. The sun was almost gone to the west, with just a band of colour remaining, and the stars were barely making their appearance. It was a night sky, but the promise of its beauty was not quite fully revealed.
Our Christian walk is much like that night sky. When we become His, we are entirely His for all of eternity. We are saved. We are forgiven. We are gifted. Yet, we have only a promise of what will be and a hint of a beauty yet to be fully revealed.
In theological terms, we start justified (forgiven) and are being sanctified (set apart for God and being made holy). When the race is run, we will be glorified (fully all we were created to be).
In this life, Christians still struggle. We doubt, and we sin. We strive to be like Christ and fall short, but there will be a day when His glory is revealed fully in us. The moment we give our hearts to Him, He begins an incredible change in us.
We are transformed from the inside out. We do not look different, and perhaps we may not seem very different to others, but the wonder of Christ’s transforming grace is present and growing.
Grace and peace to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. I thank my God every time I remember you. In all my prayers for all of you, I always pray with joy because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now, being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.
Philippians 1:2-6
Remembering that we are in transition and often in need of grace and forgiveness ought to remind us to show grace to others. We ought to be quick to forgive. Too often, we want mercy for ourselves but justice for others.
It is easy to love our brothers and sisters when all goes well. It is more challenging when they are unloveable. It might surprise you to hear that you and I can be the unloveable ones. If grace and forgiveness came naturally, we wouldn’t need Holy Spirit to work in us.
All of us are growing, learning and being transformed. We are fully Christ’s, and nothing can change that. Yet, we are not all that we shall be.
Until next time, rejoice because He will finish what He has already started in your life.

Be blessed.
