Issue 892 – Clouded – October 25, 2022

Last week I snapped this image of an early morning smoke-filled sky. The smoke from the wildfires last week obscured the sun. It was so thick that air quality alerts called for people to stay indoors as much as possible. With the rain over the past few days, the smoke has dissipated.
According to the Canadian Wood’s Council, “BC is 95 million hectares (235 million acres) in size (about double the size of California). Almost 64% of the province – about 60.3 million hectares (149 million acres) – is forested.”
That means a lot of forest can burn every year, and a lot of smoke will drift our way. That doesn’t consider the woodsmoke we can get from Alberta and Washington State when conditions are right.
When it is fire season, we get used to having our view clouded. There is a sense in which all people’s eyes are clouded all the time. We are born having a sin nature into a broken, fallen world. Everything we see appears distorted in some way from the way God created it.
The things of sin are distorted, so we don’t appreciate how horrific they truly are in the eyes of a Holy God. We don’t fully appreciate the marvellous things of God because our nature and circumstances cloud them.
We will have full use of all the faculties and senses God has given us without any form of sin to cloud the view.
We will never see God in His fullness because He transcends the infinite. We will certainly be able to see more of Him in glory than we can now. The sin scales will be stripped from our eyes, and the world will be restored. Even then, though, we will still have finite minds unable to entirely comprehend things beyond our finite limits.
Will our senses be stretched beyond our natural gifts? I don’t know. I have wondered things like, “will I be able to see sound and hear colour?” After all, they are simply waves of different frequencies.
Such whimsical musings aside, I look forward to seeing and experiencing all God has ordained for me to see and experience.
He will remove all the veils.
Love never ends. As for prophecies, they will pass away; as for tongues, they will cease; as for knowledge, it will pass away. For we know in part and we prophesy in part, but when the perfect comes, the partial will pass away. When I was a child, I spoke like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I gave up childish ways. For now we see in a mirror dimly, but then face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I have been fully known. 1 Corinthians 13:8-12
I am always blown away by the next line in this verse.
So now faith, hope, and love abide, these three; but the greatest of these is love. 1 Corinthians 13:9
When everything that hinders us has been stripped away, we will know love to the fullest extent. We will love our Lord and love one another unreservedly. I cannot even imagine how great that will be.
Unreserved, unconditional love is the greatest blessing. It is something none of us can experience or do in this world.
To love and be loved with nothing to hinder us or cloud our understanding. Love without holding back. Love with no need to impress and no barriers whatsoever. Yes, the Lord loves his children perfectly, but we won’t fully understand until then.
I can hardly wait to see what it will be like
Be blessed
Hallelu Yah / Praise God
