Issue 1344 – Breakfast – January 15, 2024
One of my all-time favourite breakfasts? A piping hot cup of coffee paired with a leftover slice of pizza straight from the fridge. There’s something about the cold, next-day pizza that just hits the spot. And let’s be real; it might not be the healthiest choice, but who can resist?
Now, I know some of you might be thinking, “Ew,” while others are probably nodding along, thinking, “That sounds like my kind of breakfast.”
You see, we’re all unique creations. Like snowflakes or fingerprints, no two of us are exactly alike. God designed each of us with a specific purpose in mind, a role to play in this grand tapestry of life. None of us is here by accident; we all have a divine purpose.
God’s fine hand of craftsmanship created each of us for a different purpose. He’s given all of us a special purpose in life, a special ministry, a contribution to be made for all eternity. None of us is here by accident. None of us is without a divine purpose.
For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them. Ephesians 2:10
How awesome is that? You are uniquely crafted for a purpose only you can fulfill.
Consider this: the people around you, regardless of their background or lifestyle, are treasures in God’s eyes. The co-worker who drives you nuts, the person you’ve never really understood, or even the one you’ve overlooked – they all hold immeasurable value in God’s sight. Treating them with kindness and fairness is akin to recognizing and honouring the wonders of God.
It’s no wonder Jesus said:
“When the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, then he will sit on his glorious throne. Before him will be gathered all the nations, and he will separate people one from another as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats. And he will place the sheep on his right, but the goats on the left. Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world. For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me, I was naked and you clothed me, I was sick and you visited me, I was in prison and you came to me.’ Then the righteous will answer him, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you drink? and when did we see you a stranger and welcome you, or naked and clothe you? And when did we see you sick or in prison and visit you?’ And the King will answer them, ‘Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to me.’
“Then he will say to those on his left, ‘Depart from me, you cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels. For I was hungry and you gave me no food, I was thirsty and you gave me no drink, I was a stranger and you did not welcome me, naked and you did not clothe me, sick and in prison and you did not visit me.’ Then they also will answer, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or naked or sick or in prison, and did not minister to you?’ Then he will answer them, saying, ‘Truly, I say to you, as you did not do it to one of the least of these, you did not do it to me.”Matthew 25:31-45
Our actions toward others reflect our attitude toward Him. Whether it’s feeding the hungry, clothing the naked, or visiting the sick, every act of kindness is a direct expression of love towards Him.
So, until our next chat, my hope for you is that you’ll see yourself as the unique and wonderful creation you are. May you recognize the incredible value in every person around you, even if their breakfast choices include coffee and cold pizza. Cheers to embracing the uniqueness in us all! Be blessed
Hallelu Yah / Praise God
