Issue 1383 – One More Day – February 29, 2024

Happy Leap Day! Or should that be “Hoppy” Leap Day?
It’s February 29th today. that wonderful day we get every four years to clear up the time that doesn’t work out properly on the calendar.
I know it’s silly, but it always feels like I get an extra day when Leap Day comes around. It’s as if someone has said stop the presses! Change the calendars! Give everyone a free day!
In reality, nothing has changed except a simple reset, a correction of a glitch in the matrix, and the unused moments from the past four years moved from the time savings account into our current account. If we didn’t use our calendar system, we wouldn’t need to “add” an “extra day.
Have you ever thought about the limited amount of time we have in life? It’s a simple truth that we all have a fixed number of days, as God determines. Every day is precious, and we must make the most of it. Even the created order has a limited number of days before we witness the culmination of things with the new heaven and new earth.
The Leap Day is paradoxically a reminder to live each day to the fullest and cherish every moment.
Someone in the crowd said to him, “Teacher, tell my brother to divide the inheritance with me.” Jesus replied, “Man, who appointed me a judge or an arbiter between you?” Then he said to them, “Watch out! Be on your guard against all kinds of greed; life does not consist in an abundance of possessions.”
And he told them this parable: “The ground of a certain rich man yielded an abundant harvest. He thought to himself, ‘What shall I do? I have no place to store my crops.’ “Then he said, ‘This is what I’ll do. I will tear down my barns and build bigger ones, and there I will store my surplus grain. And I’ll say to myself, “You have plenty of grain laid up for many years. Take life easy; eat, drink and be merry.”’
“But God said to him, ‘You fool! This very night your life will be demanded from you. Then who will get what you have prepared for yourself?’ “This is how it will be with whoever stores up things for themselves but is not rich toward God.” Luke 12:13-21
Jesus wasn’t opposed to the man being rich or being prepared. It’s a warning to ensure we don’t put anything g ahead of our relationship with Christ.
We’re given a fixed number of days in this life and haven’t been told when our last one will be. We must make the most of them by following Jesus and loving others in His name.
Is there someone you need to be reconciled to? Are your priorities askew? Use the gift of Leap Day to make amends or changes.
May this seemingly extra day be a blessing as you reset your course.
Be blessed
Hallelu Yah / Praise God
