Issue 1553 – Fog – May 21, 2024

The fog rolled in quickly, hiding the mountainous landscape and forest before our eyes. Like some silent monster from a horror film or the Stephen King novella “The Mist”, it seemed to devour everything, including light.
Fogs occur regularly in some parts of the world during some seasons. San Francisco has Fogust and the fogocalypse. They have even named their fog Karl. The name Karl references the 2003 film Big Fish. In that film, Karl was the giant everyone feared because they thought he would kill or eat them when he was just hungry and lonely.
Fogs don’t eat anything. It just hides them for a while.
We know that fog will pass, but it can be unnerving to be caught up in. There are differing forms of fog, but some feel dense and oppressive, making the experience all the more disconcerting.
We can experience spiritual fog in our Christian life. Circumstances can arise that threaten to devour everything we have and know, oppressing and seeming to overwhelm us. We can forget that God is the sovereign ruler of the universe and begin to fear.
The Lord understands our fears. Nearly 100 times, the Bible says, “Fear not,” or similar words. No matter what the world throws at us, believers belong to God. Nothing can separate us from Him.
The fog and the enemy have no real power. Jesus made promises to us, and He never reneges on a promise.
The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly. I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep. John 10:10-11
John reminds us that…
For everyone who has been born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith. Who is it that overcomes the world except the one who believes that Jesus is the Son of God? 1 John 5:1-5
Paul writes
Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or danger, or sword? As it is written, “For your sake we are being killed all the day long; we are regarded as sheep to be slaughtered.” No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 8:35-39
We see similar promises throughout the Word.
When the fog hides things and the enemy presses hard, remember that the battle belongs to the Lord, and we are overcomers through him.
Hold fast, my friends. God is with us.
Be blessed
Hallelu Yah / Praise God

Gleanings From The Word
Experience an extraordinary God in ordinary life.
Soli Deo Gloria (For the glory of God alone)
Never let the enemy tell you that you are worthless or insignificant. Your value in God’s eyes is so great that it was worth dying for. You are a blessing to the world. You are so precious to God that his plan for heaven will not be complete without you.
